The benefits of running lower tire pressure on the trail are undeniable—smoother ride quality, a larger contact patch, and the traction you need to tackle tough terrain. But there’s a tradeoff. Lower pressure increases the risk of de-beading under extreme side loads and aggressive driving.

Traditional beadlock wheels try to solve this by clamping the tire bead in place—but that solution comes with its own downsides. They require frequent maintenance, specialized tools and hardware, add rotational weight, and aren’t legal for on-road use.

What is Innerlock Technology?

Patented InnerLock Technology (U.S. Patent No. 11,090,976) redefines how a tire bead is secured to the wheel. Instead of external clamping, InnerLock uses a series of O-ring-sealed, hardened alloy pins inserted radially along the inner bead. This creates a secure internal barrier that prevents the tire from unseating—even under extreme side loads.

The result? A lightweight, high-strength wheel that requires no bolt re-torquing, eliminates the need for specialty maintenance, and remains fully DOT compliant—delivering the perfect balance of on-road safety and off-road performance.

ICON engineers pushed InnerLock through an accelerated R&D program, logging thousands of miles in some of the harshest off-road environments imaginable. After extensive real-world validation, the system was independently lab tested, including the FMVSS No. 139 Tire Bead Unseat Resistance Test (modified to 10 PSI).

The results speak for themselves—InnerLock exceeded the mechanical limits of the test equipment, withstanding over 7,600 lbs of applied load without a single instance of tire de-beading.

INSTALLING TIRES ON INNERLOCK WHEELS

Unlike traditional beadlocks, ICON wheels with InnerLock Technology can be easily installed by any tire shop. The simple procedure involves backing the InnerLock bolts out, installing the tire as usual, using the same tire machine the shop uses for every other tire it installs. Then the InnerLock bolts are simply threaded back in and tightened to spec. If your tire shop has any questions, please refer them to this video or to ICON customer service.
